The reason prolly lies in the expression he makes
his eyes are closed (most importantly I think they should be open for the viewer to look through his eyes and see whats on his mind) and then his facial expression ... kinda looks as if he just ate something strange and is now trying to get it out between his teeth ... just playin the little sarcasmn line there ;&gt; 
to get back .. I think ideal in my understanding would be him looking out of the frame into the unknown (which the viewer can hopefully imagine very well) with a somewhat serious look that is showing that he&#039;s calculating his chances to survive

		<description>It didn&#039;t work for me. It appears that he&#039;s closing his eyes because of bright light source, instead of meditating in the moment. Not necessarily flash, but something artificial.

I think part of the problem is the background. The wall may be an effective symbol in a different composition, but the big shadow to the left, the wood thing (is that a roof corner?) to the right, and telephone/electric pole squash the idea of him being a vintage aviator. It just reads as a guy in an aviator costume, perhaps standing in front of a fan.</description>
